Hey Wolfenstein fans!

So it's finally here. Wolfenstein 3D V6.0!!

Why has the version number skipped from 5.2 to 6.0?

That is because I always said that 6.0 would be the final version, and this is the final version of Wolfenstein 3D PSP from me ;)

So what's new? What's changed?

Well, one feature a lot of you have been craving is finally implemented (courtesy of Chilly Willy) .. AutoMap. See below screenshot :

A guide on how to use automap is contained inside the download ;) (hint hold Square then press Select To enter/exit automap)

Another new update is to the Game Loader. I have mentioned previously that I wanted to re-write the Game Loader from scratch and make it's theme more fitting with the game.

Well now it is, with a nice clean UI to boot. It also has the song back from the first Game Loader.

See the below screenshot :

The deathscreen. Oh how I loathe it. I worked on it for a few hours and got no-where fast. I may have been working on the wrong place or fixing the wrong code but I got it to work every time. Except when your facing the guard. Why? I don't know. It works 80% you could say. If your not facing an enemy when you die... the screen will turn red, if you are it won't. If anyone wants to fix this the code is there for you to do so ;)

The only other change is the save file names now (instead of being "y") are saved as the map name you are on. So whatever map you are on, the games save name will adopt that.

Thanks to roseRouge and wolverine666 from deviant art (I used there images).

So your leaving?

Nope :) I am currently (don't get too excited) working on a port of Shadow Warrior to the PSP and my own game. I don't know when either of these will be ready so please don't ask :P

What now?

Go off and enjoy Wolfenstein 3d/Spear Of Destiny on your PSP!

You may need to install the patch file below for your version of Wolfenstein 3D.

Obviously if any new bugs are introduced as a result of this update I will fix them and re-release ;)
Thanks and enjoy :)

Excellent ! It feels so damn smooth ! Can you use Vsync ? Also, is it possible for the SoD data files to be read from one location ?

Yup you can use Vsync (it's enabled by default if I remember correctly)

As for the data files.... It is but requires a lot of re-coding. I looked into it before and it's just not worth the amount of work it would take.

Hope you enjoy it!

I don't think Vsync is on, because I see tearing when turning. I don't see any option for it either (?)

Btw, I've thought about how cool it'd be to have an automap in Wolfensteind3D, but I'd never thought we get one !

hey i have used the wolf homebrew v6.0 for a while on my hacked PSP 1000. i beat the spear of destiny and the wolf 3d game a million times and zack has done a EXCELLENT JOB on the project.... i wish there was more of these type of wolf games ported to the PSP........

I found a website where other individuals have created wolf 3d games using the same engine as the original wolf and Spear engines......

http://www.users.glo....co.uk/~brlowe/

when you download the games from that web site the only thing you receive( on most games) is a "maphead.wl6" and a "gamemaps.wl6" file. They tell you just to add those to the original wolf 3d (replacing the maphead.wl6 and gamesmap.wl6 files in the original wolf 3d game)....

Could this work with zacks wolf homebrew and could this be harmful to my psp? Sorry for being such a "noob" but i have searched high and low for wolf games ported to the psp and zacks homebrew is basically the only thing available...

thanks!

This is going to sound kinda noobish, but I have the SoD Super CD Pack, and I noticed you have folders for the 2 extra missions. I have a whole bunch of *.sd1, *.sd2, and *.sd3 files in my SoD directory. Which ones do I need/what is the process to add the other missions?

As a side note, I'm very impressed with this homebrew. It's very professional, and I have to say that I don't impress easily, so well done and thank you!

if its taking you back to the psp screen then you do not have the files in the folders right. if you have the full version then you should have all the files inside the "wolf3dF" folder

Does anyone else notice tearing when moving sideways or turning ? No Vsync ?

Or is it just me for some reason ?

I hate to be a dunce, but this simply refuses to load on my 5.00 m33-4 firmware. The screen just stays black and then freezes my PSP.

Do you get to the game selector ?

If not, try deleting and redownloading and ... recopying to your psp (inside the GAME folder, in its own folder of course)

Noob question I know.. been waiting forever to be able to play wolf 3d on my psp but have never wanted to downgrade the os to do it. I load everything as noted above and get to the opening screen, but then when I try and run it I get "The game could not be started. (80020148)

my psp os is version 2.28.. few years old.

Any ideas on how to get it working or if it will even work at all?

TIA

see this:
http://www.retroemu....cfw-on-any-psp/

basically all you have to do is update to ofw 5.03, install chickHEN, then run hellcats recovery flasher to install 5.00 m33-6 or 5.50 gen-d3. all the links to everything you need can be found in that tut.
